Today I will review the best-selling product of Anastasia Beverly Hills: the Contour Kit.
It was hyped everywhere – Youtube, Instagram, Facebook… You could see the contour kit in every tutorial. Every Blogger/Youtuber had it and everyone adored this product. After watching many tutorials, I realised that contouring has been the new trend in beauty. You want a slimmer nose? – Just contour. You want a beautiful structured face? – Just contour. You want to make your forehead appear smaller? – Just contour.
You just need to play with light and darker shadows and with that, you can really reshape, resize, enhance and define your facial Framework. When you apply lighter colours, the product will stand out and appear more prominent. The darker shade of contour will give you more definition.
So my very first contour product was this kit. I was new into contouring and this was the most hyped contouring kit at that moment so I bought it.
The kit comes with 6 powder shades: 3 for highlighting and 3 for contouring. I got mine in “Light to Medium“.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit – Powder
First row: Vanilla, Banana & Sand; Second row: Java, Fawn and Havana
When I got my kit, I was a little bit disappointed of the packaging. The packaging is cardboard. You pay approx. € 55,- for a kit from a great brand and then you get it in a cheap packaging. I know many cheap products who have a very luxurios packaging.
However, the selection of the colours is good. The top row has 3 powder highlighting shades (L-R) Vanilla, Banana, and Sand. The bottom row has 3 powder contouring shades (L-R) Java, Fawn, and Havana. All the shades are matte, except for Sand which is a shimmer.
It works beautifully, there are no harsh contour chunks on your cheeks. And it is a very good palette for beginners and professionals as well. The palette is well pigmented and lasts all day. Furthermore it is easy to blend/buff into the skin.
Honestly, you don´t need all colours to contour and highlight your face. I strongly recommend the banana shade for setting your under eye. It looks very yellow in the pan but actually when applied to the face, it is not as yellow or noticeable.
All in all, I am very satisfied with this product. Meanwhile there are very good alternatives. In my next post I will show you some cheap alternatives to this palette, which work beautifully aswell.
Lots of love,
Gohar
